The recreation of the Adams-Enriquez Jr. Fuel dragster is for sale. The chassis is an original Woody Gilmore one made in the late 1960s with early olds rearend and Mickey Thompson Mag third member, with Halibrand rear wheels. Wheelbase is 127 inches. The engine is a one of a kind in drag racing, being a Hilborn Fuel Injeceted 1955 292 cubic inch Hemi Desoto. The Adams-Enriquez Jr. Fuel car was the first officially recognized unsupercharged car to run over 200 MPH when it set a record at an NHRA points race at Orange County Raceway at 202 MPH in early September of 1968. It was the sole car on the front of the Sept 21st 1968 issue of Drag News in recognition of the milestone. The car was driven by Don Enriquez during the cackle fest at the recent CHRR in Oct. of 2016 at Fomosa Raceway, Bakersfield. Price is $29,000. Whatever happened to the blue Adams & Stewart Fueler? I saw it once at the CHRR yrs ago, but never since then.
I was hanging with Gene when they were trying to push start it at the far end of the pits. Don Enriquez was in the seat.
It had an Industrial Chrys motor with the water ports down low on the front of the block (capped off).
