Ok this may be a bit early but Rocky Phillips (ANRA 2009 E/Gas Champion) has secured a race date at Eagle Field up north for the first,
"Fresno Dragways Reunion" May 22nd 2010.

It's only a 1/8 mile deal on the former Air Force Base used in the 40's to train pilots, now privately owned by Joe Davis of Dos Palos.

I had a blast there and the place was packed. There is a spread in the new #20 Rod & Kulture magazine about the race he put on last year.

I believe if you type in a search for

" hamb dragsters @ eagle field fresno dragway reunion"
It will pull up a page on the HAMB board.

I guess Rocky has my car on the advertisement and no that isnt a burn out, thats the run the whole 1/8 mile.

As I said it's a bit early but if your planning your race calender it is worth the drive to see heads up, flag start,no et or mph clock racing.

I'm lookin for another set of used Mickey Thompson 29-11.5-15 slicks to sacrifice to the asphalt gods.

Eagle Field in past Fresno just a tad.

You can never start to early(unless your staged) for planing to attend an event like this. I'm cashin in my soda cans as we speak for gas money.

Yes Mark

We 3 wheeled it with the trailer to Butch's shop while having another bearing start to go south .
First the #1 push car broke going up the Grapvine , then the trailer deal. Fortunately the Roadster did well smoking the hides off for 800' on a 660' track.....

Hopefully we'll have less to work on next time.

Stormy Even with all the problems that had to be one of the best times we have had in a long time don't think Josh will ever forget it. He still can't believe that we used to race like that.

Mark I think that Josh will be running at Famoso that weekend Div 7 Jr race this is the last year for him in the Jr. Just hope we can get him in it, damn kids getting to big.

Hope everyone had a safe holiday.

Butch

What do you mean "Use to race like that"
With Rocky & Eagle Field we still can & have "fun".

Theres that "3" letter word again.NHRA I believe banned the concept 20 years ago in the rule book under "Driver Conduct" in most of the classes.
I think random testing was done by officials from time to time and the first offense you just got a warning.

The second offense you were forced to listen to sponsor commercials for 3 hours till you threw up.

DooH!
:shock:StOrMy:shock:

Bring the Maverick and have Josh wear my other firesuit , the Simpson face mask ,goggles & Helmet. It'll look like somthing out of 60's.

Troy
That is Fresno, on Manning ave.
The drag strip is still there too!
They planted fruit trees where the stands are, but the strip is still intact.
The Tower is crumbling though, bummer would still be a great place to race.
The last picture your dad is smoking the tires off at has to be Stardust as the tower is wrong & you can see the hills in the backgroung, not Fresno.
